Do you have the right entrepreneur mindset for business success?

Updated: Jan 25, 2023

If you’re here, it’s most likely because you have an interest to learn and grow. So, I commend you for taking the time to invest in you!

Quick disclosure: I write about the needs I see in my coaching practice. So think of me as your business fairy, helping you prepare for mindset challenges that may occur. As you read on, you'll notice me talking about some issues entrepreneurs face and then i'll transition into tips and solutions.

Before we begin please remember this: Mindset is a vital skill for you to master! It will really help you accomplish your goals! I promise!

SELF-DOUBT: Have you ever gone into a territory in business or marketing where you are unfamiliar and immediately get uncomfortable? Does your inner voice of self-doubt ever pop-up? If it does, the key is to catch yourself and shift into thinking about your “why”. Learn to understand “why” it’s worth it to keep going despite your discomfort.

KNOW YOUR “WHY”: My “why”, is my passion for learning, making a difference, and serving through my talents and services. Of course, making a living is also a “why”, but money isn’t my primary driver. Solving problems for my clients and building long-term relationships is super rewarding and that keeps me motivated! Your reasons and motivations for making your goals happen should be top of mind always.

PERFECTIONISM: This trait can really hold you back from getting started. That’s right, I said it, if you have ever wasted energy and time thinking about doing something you really want to do, but don’t get started then you will never pick up the traction to get goals checked off your list...

...Let’s just say you really want to improve your company’s brand visually. You know you can do better, and you understand the benefits of looking like a professional brand, but you’re not shifting towards accomplishing the goal. Maybe you need help or need to hire someone, maybe you’re a start-up, and need to learn and implement on your own, whatever the case, you know you need to get started. So instead of over thinking or procrastinating, shift to having an entrepreneur mindset, by finding solutions and getting stuff done!

BE RESOURCEFUL: You must be resourceful, learn to execute, and understand the benefits of investing your time and money into something that will bring you a return on your investment. Creative strategies for success are easier than you think! To grow in business, you must pivot.

SURRENDER: Have you noticed that CEOs don’t know how to do everything their employees do in the company? They really don’t. They stick to their expertise and minimize risk when working to scale the business. Imagine if Steve Jobs of Apple was doing the marketing and branding, the accounting, the sales, the customer service and everything else that goes into growing a business. Do you think Apple would have scaled the way it did? The answer is no. Steve Jobs understood that he needed to join forces with others and hire people to grow. If you want to grow, you’re going to have to learn to surrender certain tasks that might be a learning curve, waste of time, or waste of your earning potential. This way of thinking is the right mindset for business success. Take it from me! I hired a bookkeeper and accountant because I want to be able to allocate my time and money in ways that are productive to me and my business so I can focus on what I do best.

TIME IS MONEY: The sooner you get started, the sooner you will begin your journey towards growth. Being pro-active and getting clarity is going to help you build healthy habits moving forward. Your time is valuable and anytime you lose, you will not get back.

No one knows your craft, abilities, and talents better than you. Don’t waste your time doing things you don’t know how to do. Focus on doing what you’re good at and don’t be afraid to outsource items on your to-do list! Hire a pro that can do the job right the first time, because remember, Time is money.

TRACTION: Maintain clarity about your goals and keep the traction going.

Business growth requires reflection, innovation, pivots, implementation, consistency, and I can go on and on. Success is comprised of many things, but to me success lies in the changes I make daily (big or small). Don’t play yourself either, you know when you feel stagnant, and your mental alert system will call you out when you’re feeling unsatisfied.

I hope this blog helped you reflect in ways that will help you pivot towards your personal version of success. This is a journey, not a destination. So, while you’re out here working your butt off enjoy the ride! Proud of you!

Sincerely,

-Lisa
